Welcome to the Junior League of Washington. The Junior League of Washington (JLW) is made up of more than 2,200 highly trained volunteers dedicated to improving the community through effective action and leadership. The JLW makes a difference by supporting adult, children's, and cultural literacy initiatives in the greater Washington, DC area through hands-on volunteering and fundraising efforts that support the important work of our community partners. The JLW's purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. All women regardless of race, religion, and national origin who are committed to volunteerism in their community are welcome and encouraged to join the JLW.
JLW Awards $10,000 Scholarship The JLW is proud to award its $10,000 Meg Graham Scholarship Celebrating Service and Leadership for 2009 to a graduating senior at Benjamin Banneker High School. Our scholarship recipient this year has a 3.99 grade point average and is ranked 4th in her class. We congratulate her on her scholastic achievements, her acceptance to Harvard this fall, and as a membership organization providing the community with trained volunteers -- we thank her for the 393 hours of volunteer service she has given at Safe Shores, a D.C. children's advocacy center, and Adventist Hospital.
