Cultural Literacy
Corcoran Gallery of Art
For over 50 years, JLW volunteers have worked to enhance cultural and visual literacy at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Today, the 30+ JLW Corcoran volunteers conduct tours of the museum and manage the exploration galleries that accompany major exhibitions. JLW volunteers help educate museum visitors about the Corcoran's history, collection, and special exhibitions and impart their love and knowledge of art.
Folger Shakespeare Library
Each year, JLW volunteers provide much needed support to the Folger Shakespeare Theatre & Library by staffing events and educational programs. The volunteers supply critical logistical support for the many activities that are on-going at the Theatre and Library. The JLW is involved with the Folger Shakespeare Theatre and Library to help educate and guide theatre and library visitors, and to ensure the continued knowledge of this valuable Washington institution.
Historic Alexandria Docents
The JLW supports our American historic, cultural, and artistic history by volunteering at different historic Alexandria properties by liaising with the Historic Alexandria Foundation. Volunteers serve at several Alexandria sites including the following:

The JLW has been a true partner with the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) since 1981. Today, the more than 20 JLW NMWA volunteers manage the art information desk and conduct tours of this dynamic women focused museum in the heart of Washington, DC. The JLW helps to educate visitors regarding the permanent and ever-changing visiting collections and to support the public programs that the museum offers to children and families on an annual basis.
