Women improving the Washington DC Community since 1912

Day of Service

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, the Junior League of Washington (JLW) will hold our inaugural Day of Service – a volunteer event that will engage our more than 2,300 members, and their friends, spouses, and children, in meaningful projects around the DC community to maximize our impact on a single day. We are looking for eight to ten (8-10) community partners that can accommodate 20-100+ volunteers at each location, and we hope your organization will consider partnering with us on this special day.

For this Day of Service, JLW is looking for projects that align with our mission and improve the community through the effective action of trained volunteers. Preference will be given to opportunities where JLW volunteers will provide the majority of volunteer support. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is available here.

Responses are due no later than 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and early submission is encouraged but not required. Due to the tight timeline for the application review process, we are unable to accept late submissions.

Participants in the Day of Service will be notified of their selection on a rolling basis and no later than Friday, March 3, 2017. If your organization is selected, you will work closely with JLW to coordinate logistics and ensure that your organization’s goals are aligned with JLW. JLW will work internally to find the requested number and type of volunteers.

Day of Service volunteers will participate in a project at your site on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The timeline specified here is subject to change, so check back for updates or email dayofservice@jlw.org. Any other questions can be directed to this email address as well.
