JUNIOR LEAGUE OF WASHINGTON PRESENTS 60th ANNUAL HOLIDAYS SHOPS

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Just in time for the Holiday season, the Junior League of Washington (JLW) will host its oldest annual fundraiser, Holiday Shops, at Dock5 in Union Market. Between November 16-18, thousands of shoppers will visit more than 70 merchants selling a variety of products, including food, desserts, clothing, stationary, and more. Proceeds from the event benefit the League’s commitment to voluntarism and women’s leadership development, and support literacy efforts across the community.

Shopping hours will be from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, with a variety of events taking place throughout the weekend. Merchants include MFG Toffee, Buldano, Hawaiian Moon, Icarus + Co., and many others. You can view our entire list of merchants here.

On Friday, November 16, the shopping weekend kicks off with the Grand Opening Party, A Holiday Jubilee. Taking place from 6 – 11 p.m., this event will feature food and cocktails from local restaurants, a wine pull, a gift card tree, and a silent auction. The silent auction will be available on Handbid, an app that allows participants to bid from anywhere. Check out the exciting silent auction items here, and bid anytime.

On Saturday, November 17, between 1 – 3 p.m., adults can bring their furry children to Dock5 for a photo with Santa. This is the perfect way to have a standout Christmas card. On Sunday, November 18, between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., children and families can participate in Family Fun Day. Activities include a Santa letter-writing activity, a craft, and having their photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

JLW’s trained volunteers serve the Washington, DC, community in a variety of ways, including through the National Book Festival, the Washington School for Girls, and at Calvary Women’s Services, among many others. Proceeds from Holiday Shops support the League’s partnerships with community organizations and are used to further JLW’s development of women leaders in the community.
