Childhood obesity is a raging epidemic in every developed country, and poor nutrition and childhood obesity remain serious problems in Washington, DC. Recognizing that obesity can impact a child’s mental and physical health, with implications for their education, social lives, and ultimate success, the Kids in the Kitchen program was born.
This event is part of a broader initiative by The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI), of which JLW is a member. More than 225 Leagues across four countries have participated in Kids in the Kitchen, supporting the fight against the epidemic of childhood obesity, helping improve the health and wellness of children, and promoting nutritional literacy and a healthy lifestyle.
