Junior League of Washington Announces 32nd Annual Tossed & Found

Annual Rummage Sale Offers Quality, Gently Used Merchandise at Bargain Prices

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 1, 2024 – The Junior League of Washington (JLW), a non-profit organization of over 2,300 women dedicated to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training, is pleased to announce that the 32nd annual Tossed & Found rummage sale will take place March 16-17, 2024 at 2100-B Crystal Drive in Arlington, VA (inside Crystal City Shops at 2100). This event will be preceded by Tossed & Found’s featured pre-event, Children’s Trunk Show, which will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

For over 32 years, Tossed & Found has served as an essential community resource, welcoming over 85,000 shoppers in search of quality, preloved, affordable goods. As a major fundraiser for JLW, it has raised nearly $2.8 million over its history. Proceeds from the event fund grants and programs that support pathways to opportunity across the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This includes partnerships with over 20 child and adult literacy programs including Calvary Women’s Services, Horton’s Kids, Bright Beginnings, Higher Achievement Program, and many others.

“Tossed & Found is one of JLW’s most anticipated events, both by JLW members and the community, and I’m excited to welcome it into its 32nd year,” said JLW President Kimberly Price. “Accessing household essentials can be an immense challenge for individuals facing economic hardship. Many are forced to make difficult choices between meeting basic needs and stretching their limited resources to cover essential items like cookware, bedding, and clothing. Through the generosity of JLW members and the community, this event not only helps alleviate financial strain but also fosters a sense of dignity and empowerment.”

To offer additional assistance during the rummage sale, JLW provides cash vouchers, known as Community Cash Cards, to community members in need. These cash cards allow individuals, many of whom are dealing with homelessness, extreme poverty, or crisis situations, to purchase items at the sale in dignity. In 2023 alone, Tossed & Found raised over $10,000 in Community Cash Cards.

From the volunteer-run Outgrown Shop, a consignment store run by the Junior League in the 1940s, to Tossed & Found, JLW has always had a focus on meeting the evolving needs of our community, ensuring that everyone has access to essential household goods and other necessities. This event is entirely volunteer-run and is a testament to JLW’s ongoing commitment to effecting positive change, seeking common ground, and inspiring hope.
