Kids in the Kitchen is an annual event showcasing ways kids can eat smart and make healthy lifestyle choices. Targeted to children ages 3-13, local chefs host healthy cooking demonstrations, fitness experts lead high-energy exercise sessions, and certified nutritionists are on hand to answer questions. Kids in the Kitchen also hosts several smaller events throughout the year focused on healthy eating and physical activity to support our community partners. Since 1993, JLW’s Tossed & Found rummage sale has welcomed nearly 80,000 shoppers, providing bargain prices on high-quality, gently used merchandise and raising funds to support JLW’s work in the community. The Art of Entertaining is a tablescapes event that celebrates the art of what’s possible while giving back to our community. Attendees will immerse themselves in a showcase of captivating table designs and demonstrations, designed to inspire both aspiring hosts and seasoned entertainers. The JLW-sponsored Bright Beginnings’ Annual 5K Race raises funds that help provide educational, therapeutic, health, and family services free of charge to unhoused infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families in Washington, DC.
