In order to protect the health and safety of our members, volunteers, runners, and community, the Bright Beginnings Annual 5K has been cancelled in light of the developments surrounding COVID-19.
Your 5K registration fee will be automatically donated directly to Bright Beginnings and requires no action on your part. Your donation will support a local nonprofit that provides free early childhood education and wraparound services for homeless children and their families in DC. Participants who donate their registration fee will be entered in a virtual drawing for various prizes, including a free two-night stay at the Mayflower Hotel in DC. Winners will be notified via email by Friday, April 3, 2020. Additionally, race T-shirts will also be available for pick-up (see guidance below). JLW Members: Membership Credits will be honored for those who choose to donate their registration fee.
If you choose to opt out of donating your registration fee and would like to request a refund, please contact Bright Beginnings DC directly with the following information below by Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Please note that any refunded registrations will not include a race T-shirt and will not be entered in the virtual drawing.
Race Day T-Shirt:
For participants who donate their registration fee, please pick up your t-shirt this Friday, March 14, at Potomac Running in Chinatown from 5-7 p.m. If this date/time does not work for you, please reach out to email@example.com to coordinate your t-shirt pickup. Any race t-shirts not picked up by Tuesday, March 31, 2020 will be donated to Bright Beginnings.
What is Bright Beginnings?
Bright Beginnings is a nationally accredited child and family development center that provides education and family-stabilizing services to over 150 homeless infants, toddlers, and preschoolers every day. Bright Beginnings’ safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate childcare allows its students to reach important childhood milestones and helps lift their parents out of homelessness.
