Grants We’ve Given

 

Since our founding, the JLW has granted over $5.8 million to various community organizations. Such diverse organizations as WETA, Community of Hope, Visiting Nurse Association of Washington, Big Sisters of Washington Metro Area, Recording for the Blind, DC Rape Crisis Center, The Arlington County Temporary Shelter, among others, are JLW grant recipients.

When JLW adopted of the literacy focus as our in 1999, the JLW gave more than $675,000 to local organizations who are making a difference in the complex issues of literacy in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. We are proud to call the following organizations grant recipients: The Literacy Lab, Excel Academy Public Charter School, Washington Jesuit Academy, New Futures, Washington Middle School for Girls, Inner City Inner Child, Beacon House, Training Futures, Project Northstar, One Ministries, Good Shepherd Ministries, Higher Achievement, Children’s Hospital Foundation, Horton’s Kids.  In 2022, JLW expanded our focus area to include supporting pathways to opportunity. Since 1912, we have remained a strong and driven group of women, dedicated to addressing the challenges of providing for those in need. We will continue to do so in our next 100 years, and we welcome other women to join with us.
