Request Volunteers

Short-Term Volunteers

The Junior League of Washington proudly provides trained volunteers for short-term service in response to requests from community organizations, supporting the League’s commitment to improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. To request volunteer support for your short-term project, event, or organization, please click here. Requests must be received five weeks in advance to allow us adequate time to secure volunteer resources. Preference will be given to volunteer opportunities that have a direct impact on the Washington, DC, community and/or that support JLW’s focus on promoting literacy. Last year, the League partnered with and supported more than 20 community organizations with volunteer service.

Ongoing Volunteers

JLW provides trained volunteers on a regular basis to a number of nonprofit organizations in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Click here for further information on where we volunteer. If you represent a nonprofit in the Washington area that might benefit from JLW volunteers, please consider submitting a Volunteer Resource application. Applications run on an annual submission cycle. Online applications are typically available by early September and have a submission deadline date in late October. For additional information on the Volunteer Resources Grant and deadlines, please visit our Grants page.

Board Service

JLW members are ready, willing, and able to serve on nonprofit boards, particularly our members who have completed the Get On Board Program and earned Board Source’s Certificate of Nonprofit Board Education.
